Welcome!!
Welcome to First Grade!
This is an exciting time for your children to develop their own passion towards learning as we embrace new adventures together. First grade is a special time for your child where they will go through many transitions and learn how to read, write, add, subtract, and so much more. I hope to make your child’s learning experience fun and interesting and I hope to inspire a love for learning that will last throughout their entire learning experience. I am looking forward to working with your child this year and helping him/her reach his/her full potential. I have a strong belief in parent-teacher communication because I feel that we are all working towards the same goal. Throughout the year, I will be communicating with you through e-mails, notes sent home, telephone calls, and parent-teacher conferences. Feel free to contact me at any time.
First grade is a year full of many transitions so it is important to keep in mind that each child develops and progresses at his or her own individual rate. We need to build on the small successes to maintain their self-esteem to form a solid foundation for their growth and love of learning. Here are some great ways that you can help:
Always encourage your child and celebrate all of their strengths and successes, no matter how small. Remaining positive is extremely important in your child’s academic process.
Try to read with your child as much as possible. Strive to read together every day! The more children are exposed to language, the easier it will be to incorporate their reading and writing skills in the classroom.
I look forward to having your child in my classroom. Please do not hesitate to contact me!
Sincerely,
Allison Conlin
